ENLIGHTENED Christian Gathering (ECG) church in Bulawayo has pledged to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of two elderly people’s homes in the city.
ECG Zimbabwe head cleric, Pastor Patrick Boanerge yesterday, during two donations held at Entembeni Old People’s Home and Ekuphumuleni Geriatric Nursing Home pledged that the church would deposit $500 into the institutions accounts.
Elderly people living in the homes were also treated to a delightful Easter celebration.
ECG church, under the guidance of its founder Malawian born, South Africa-based prophet and businessman Prophet Shepherd Bushiri donated groceries, clothes and bedding worth thousands of dollars to the two institutions.
“We have been given the mandate to celebrate and cherish our elderly people. We should never look down upon them, as one day we will all get to their age. The world may be celebrating Easter but the true essence is sharing and we as ECG chose to spend the day with the elderly.
“These gifts are from our leader, the founder of our church Prophet Shepherd ‘Major 1’ Bushiri,” said Pastor Boanerge.
He pledged on behalf of the church to deposit $300 every month into Ekuphumuleni Geriatric Nursing Home account, for its upkeep and other provisions.
At Ekuphumuleni, the people were treated to a sumptuous breakfast menu, with eggs, toast, baked beans and French toast.
The institution houses 45 inmates, comprising 15 males and 30 females.
At Entembeni Old people’s Home, Pastor Boanerge pledged to deposit $200 monthly.@peterkmatika
