PAN-African banking group, Ecobank, has appointed Zimbabwean seasoned banker, Mr Moses Kurenjekwa, as its new Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Cluster Head.
Having been managing director of Ecobank Zimbabwe since November 2016, he will now oversee the overall Ecobank business within the Sadc cluster, covering the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, said the bank in a statement yesterday.
“The Ecobank Group and board of Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited are pleased to announce the appointment of Moses Kurenjekwa as the Ecobank Group Sadc Cluster Head, in addition to his current role of managing director,” said the group.
Mr Kurenjekwa joined Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited in 2011 as the head of corporate and investment banking, a position he held upon the group’s entry into Zimbabwe.
“Within five years in this role, Mr Kurenjekwa grew the business from infancy into one of the best performing corporate and investment banking units in the Ecobank group,” said Ecobank.
“During five years of being a managing director, Mr Kurenjekwa has taken the bank to the top echelon of banking in Zimbabwe.”
Prior to joining Ecobank, he spent 15 years within Zimbabwe’s corporate and investment banking sector.
Mr Kurenjekwa holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honors) degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Science Degree in International Banking and Finance from Salford University and several post-graduate diplomas and certificates from the Institute of Bankers in Zimbabwe.
