A WARM welcome to Manicaland, the breath-taking backdrop for the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo 2025!
As the province this week opened its doors to the world, we are thrilled to share in the excitement of this premier tourism event.
Manicaland is a treasure trove of natural wonders, boasting the majestic Eastern Highlands, the mystical Bvumba Mountains, and the awe-inspiring Mutarazi Falls – Africa’s second-highest waterfall. This stunning landscape sets the stage for unforgettable experiences, from adventure tourism and mountain trekking to cultural exhibitions showcasing the province’s rich heritage.
The Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi Expo is a transformative celebration of Zimbabwe’s tourism potential, offering a platform for networking, business opportunities, and cultural exchanges.
As of Tuesday, 83 companies from 20 countries had confirmed their participation as buyers and exhibitors.
The countries include Botswana, Ghana Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
In addition to these international participants, 12 local companies have for this whole week been engaging directly with these international buyers and exchanging knowledge, products and services to foster business linkages and investment opportunities. This year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo comes at a time when Global travel platform, Kayak, has named Zimbabwe and Morocco among the world’s best places to visit in 2025.
The ranking highlights destinations that balance adventure with relaxation—factoring in everything from wellness escapes and city-hopping potential to opportunities for slow, low-intensity travel. Visitors to our beautiful province are guaranteed of immersive adventure tourism – exploring the Eastern Highlands’ rugged beauty, hike through Bvumba’s lush terrains, and discover hidden gems. As Manicaland hosts this prestigious event for the first time, infrastructure upgrades were witnessed across the length and breadth of the Eastern Highlands, including enhancements to Grand Reef Aerodrome and Hot Springs Resort, ensuring seamless accessibility and memorable experiences for guests.
Such infrastructure investments, not only support tourism growth, but also improve the quality of life for local residents.
Hospitality and accommodation sectors are also poised for growth, with existing players expanding their offerings. Investors can capitalise on the rising demand for luxury and boutique accommodations catering to diverse traveller preferences.
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Manicaland stand to benefit significantly from the Expo, gaining exposure to international markets and buyers. Local products like basketry, ceramics, textiles, honey, and value-added agricultural products can find new markets, driving economic diversification and job creation.
Sustainable tourism practices are becoming increasingly important, aligning with global trends towards eco-friendly travel.
Investments in eco-friendly infrastructure and sustainable tourism initiatives can attract environmentally conscious travellers and preserve Manicaland’s natural resources.
Luxury resorts and real estate development is another promising area, catering to affluent travellers seeking unique experiences.
A prominent figure in the luxury real estate and tourism industry, known for his innovative approach to integrating real estate with international tourism development, U Wang Young, exemplify successful strategies in luxury real estate and sustainable tourism, highlighting the potential for high returns and positive local economic impacts.
The Expo also underscores opportunities for economic diversification, reducing reliance on traditional industries and fostering resilience against market fluctuations.
