A DISTURBING video clip, featuring a Beitbridge man who was filmed savagely attacking his wife in a lodge, is as shocking as it is disturbing.
The woman, who allegedly cheated on her husband, was pummelled all over her body by the enraged man.
Women’s rights defenders have been touched by the man’s barbaric act, despite the clear extenuating circumstances related to his case.
Hundreds of Zimbabweans, riled by the man’s behaviour, have appealed for his arrest.
Others, however, argue that he had a reason to act the way he did because it’s not easy for one to control his emotions when confronted by what he saw.
They say the woman should shoulder the blame because she was the one who started the whole drama by trying to cheat on her husband.
The drama came just a few weeks after we commemorated Women’s Month in March.
The major call, during the Women’s Month commemoration, was to eradicate violence against women and young girls.
Women and young girls’ rights topped the agenda, thanks to global leaders and women’s rights movements’ collaborations.
Failure to observe these rights by a few rogue people has been described as taking a major step backwards.
With a number of men showing signs of transformation and repentance, the Beitbridge husband has shocked many people, with his actions, and they have denounced the brutal attack.
While the man was cheated by his wife, violence was never an option.
The man was supposed to part ways with his wife and sue the man who was bedding her.
Violence can be tragic as some men are now rotting in jail after killing their cheating partners. Couples should not force love but rather they need to understand each other.
When marriages are no longer working, it’s better for couples to seek counselling and dialogue with mature people.
Forcing love should never be an option since it can be dangerous.
Women in toxic relationships should simply learn to walk away and start a new life once the signs begin to show.
While being cheated by your partner, who was meant to stay with you and be faithful all the time is painful, men should learn to walk away.
Men should do everything for their partners out of love and not as a way of controlling them.
There are some women who simply need deliverance as they are cheating on the same people, who are providing for their upkeep.
In cases where there is no longer affection between couples, it’s better to call it quits before it’s too late.
Couples should also learn to appreciate each other during courtship. Failure to do so can be a recipe for disaster since it leads to discord when the couples settle down as husband and wife.
As a newspaper, we always promote dialogue, counselling and engagement when couples are feuding.
Violence is never an option.
