FORMER boxing champion Arifonso “Mosquito” Zvenyika has decided to forgive his wife after their brief separation amid claims from the athlete that she cheated on him.
Mosquito made headlines recently when H-Metro exclusively revealed that he had found some messages in his wife’s phone which suggested that she was having an extra-marital affair with someone called Leonard Jamanda.
His wife, Jesman Mutokonya, packed her bags and left their home in Mbare.
Jamanda told Mosquito that Jesman lied to him that she was a single mother.
Jamanda even told Mosquito to ‘GO AND HANG,” when he confronted him with the evidence that he was cheating with his wife.
The matter came to light when his wife Jesman’s phone required some repairs and Mosquito took it to a technician.
That is when the former Commonwealth boxing champion came across explicit chats between his wife and her boyfriend.
Explicit chats in possession of H-Metro reveal an extra-marital romantic affair in which the two lovebirds had sexual intercourse a number of times.
They also would also take some time to talk about their private moments.
Jesman even referred to her boyfriend’s privates by his totem.
Many of the messages are too graphic to be published in this newspaper.
When Jesman left their home, she took with her most of the household furniture, including a kitchen unit, a wardrobe, blankets as well as all the food bought for the festive period.
She also left with their three children aged 12, 8 and 3.
Mosquito said what was infuriating him the most was the lack of remorse on the part of his wife’s boyfriend.
At the weekend, Mosquito told H-Metro that he has decided to forgive his wife and the pair have since reconciled.
He said he understood that many people will not understand his decision and some will even condemn him for the move.
He said he has been stressed by the whole saga and he was even struggling with high blood pressure.
Mosquito also decided to apologise to his in-laws for the publicity which the case has attracted.
He said he prayed and God showed him another path to the resolution of the saga and that is the reason he decided to choose forgiveness.
He said he also found strength in reading the Bible and was particularly touched by the story of the adulterous woman who was saved by the intervention of Jesus when she was about to be stoned to death.
We know that it’s hard for many of us to understand Mosquito’s move but he is the only one who knows why he has chosen forgiveness and we should respect his decision.
We hope his wife has also picked some important lessons that there is no value in having an extra-marital affair.
She has been shamed and she deserves it because what she did was wrong and should be condemned in the strongest language possible.
