FLAMBOYANT businessman, Philip Chiyangwa, is never very far away from the headlines.
The tycoon is back in the headlines after wedding Sarah Frankis at a private ceremony at his Borrowdale mansion on Friday.
The former ZIFA boss told H-Metro that his wife is the ultimate woman of his dreams.
Captains of industry, members of the clergy, who included Prophet Walter Magaya, and some politicians graced the occasion with some of them showcasing their dancing skills.
The wedding venue was decorated with a range of flashy cars.
We are a newspaper that has placed a lot of emphasis on the values of the institution of marriage.
We are a newspaper that has always celebrated when people get married because we believe in this institution as something that is very important for us as humans.
We checked with Linkedin on why marriage is considered such an important aspect of life for many people and we found several reasons:
1. Emotional and psychological well-being: Marriage provides emotional support, companionship, and a sense of belonging. Being in a loving and committed relationship can improve one’s mental and emotional health.
2. Raising children: Marriage is often seen as the appropriate context for raising children, with parents sharing responsibilities and providing a stable and loving environment for children to grow up in.
3. Physical and emotional intimacy: Marriage provides an opportunity for physical and emotional intimacy, which can be an important aspect of a fulfilling and healthy relationship.
4. Building a strong support system: Marriage can provide a strong support system of family and friends, who can be a source of support and encouragement throughout life.
We are disappointed, as a newspaper, when couples divorce even though we understand that, for some of them, it would be in the best interests of both parties.
We write about these divorces but not with the same excitement we have when we write about marriages.
It is our hope that Chiyangwa and Sarah will find the joy, love and peace of mind they want from their union.
A marriage works if both parties are committed to making sure that they play a part, in good and bad times, to ensure that their union remains intact.
There will always be challenges in marriage and what is important is to make sure that the couples find a way to address those challenges for the sake of themselves and their families.
We know Chiyangwa is well aware of all these challenges that come with marriage and is now well equipped to deal with them to ensure that he doesn’t only preserve this union but ensures that it thrives.
He is a role model to many young men in our country who dream of one day transforming themselves from their humble circumstances to become very rich just like what Chiyangwa, whose mother was once a vendor in Chegutu, did.
His actions have a huge impact on these young men and when he does something exemplary, like getting married, it also sends the right signals to this constituency that sees a role model in him.
