“In this world of dynamism, it is necessary to ensure that police officers keep up-breast with developments in facets of the country. Education and training play a major role in achieving this,” Comm Gen Chihuri said. He said it was his hope that efforts to develop police officers’ technical and managerial competencies would bear fruit and develop the organisation.
Comm Gen Chihuri noted that the police force was there to serve the public professionally and diligently in maintaining law and order in the country.

“This will be achieved principally through this event that we witness today. The idea is to mould them into professional and innovative cadres capable of wrestling with the emerging challenges of an ever-changing environment,” he said. Comm Gen Chihuri urged the graduates to put into practice what they learnt for the good and smooth running of the organisation. He noted that among the graduates were members of the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Prison Services.

“This goes to buttress the collaborative efforts we have been seeing to be always pulling together as custodians of security in the country,” he said. He also thanked the University of Zimbabwe for its support to the Police Staff College.
“I assure you that the extension of your helping hand to the college’s endeavour to develop an all round police officer who can easily mediate and proffer sound solutions to challenges at the work frontier will not go to waste,’ he said.

UZ pro-Vice Chancellor (business development) Dr Takaruza Munyanyiwa, said the college continued to improve standards of policing hence the demand for ZRP officers on United Nations and AfricaUnion for peacekeeping missions. He said human resources development was the corner stone of every organisation.
