EFF to fight Parly suspension

The Malema led EFF, an offshoot of the ANC, had a respectable start winning 25 seats and becoming the official opposition in two of the nine provinces

Cape Town. — The Economic Freedom Fighters will go to court to fight suspension from Parliament, party leader Julius Malema said yesterday.
Malema said the party would give National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete a deadline to give assurances that she would not move to suspend its 25 MPs in the House, and should she fail to do so, seek an urgent court interdict to prevent suspension from the legislature.

“We don’t believe there is any basis for such a suspension.

“We are going to apply for an urgent interdict, interdicting her and Parliament from suspending us because we don’t think there are bases for any of us to be suspended.

“So we are all 25 of us going to approach the high court individually.” — Sapa
