MO SALAH’S World Cup has taken a shock twist after he and his Egyptian team-mates were DENIED entry into Seattle.
The African giants were planning to jet into the city after notching a brilliant 3-1 win over New Zealand in Vancouver on Sunday night.
But Egypt‘s request to fly directly to Seattle was denied by local security officials.
And the Group G leaders were forced to return to their training base in Spokane, Washington, after the snub.
In a statement released by the Egypt FA, national team boss Hossam Hassan said: “The security authorities refused the team’s request to stay in the city of Seattle as planned after the New Zealand match in the World Cup, and therefore the team’s delegation will return to the city of Spokane.
“The team had wanted to travel directly to Seattle to spare the players travel fatigue due to the numerous journeys in preparation for the Iran match on June 26, but following the security decision, the Egypt national team delegation will return to Spokane.”
Salah, 34, was seen dancing topless in the Egyptian dressing room following the win over New Zealand.
He found the net, along with Mostafa Zico and Trezeguet, in the comeback victory after falling behind to Finn Surman’s first half header.
It allowed Egypt, who profited from a bizarre wardrobe malfunction, to bag a historic first World Cup triumph after 92 years of waiting.
And they will now be dreaming of booking their spot in the knockout stages thanks to taking their tally to four points.
Salah quit Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, ending a sensational nine-year career at Anfield.
The former Chelsea man won two Premier League titles, along with the Champions League, during his trophy-laden spell on Merseyside. And he notched a sensational 257 goals in a Liverpool shirt, making him the third-highest scorer in the club’s history.
Salah, who made a gruelling nine-hour round trip to make his football dream a reality, is assessing his options after leaving the Reds.
Egypt, who also have Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush in their squad, are set to face Iran in their final Group G showdown in Seattle later this week.
Salah’s side are on course to progress after also grabbing a point against Belgium – Sun.
