Elder (68) hacked by man (20)

Following a family dispute a 20-year-old Chipinge man last week allegedly hacked his uncle (69) with a machete.Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda, confirmed the incident that happened in Maturura Village under Chief Mutema in Chipinge on May 19.
He said Tariro Sithole was beating his young brother for unknown reasons on the day in question when the now late Ephrain Mavaiso heard the little boy crying for help.
“The three stayed on the same compound. Mavaiso went to find out what was happening.
“Sithole turned to him and attacked him using bricks.
“Mavaiso tried to run for his life, but Sithole took a machete and pursued him,” said Asst Insp Chananda.
“The old man slipped before he could go any further and fell on the ground.
“Sithole attacked him using the machete on the head several times. Mavaiso sustained serious injuries and started bleeding profusely.
“Villagers who heard the noise and tried to come to his rescue, but Mavaiso had already died due to the deep cuts.
“A police report was made, leading to Sithole’s arrest,” he said.
Asst Insp Chananda urged members of the public to solve their differences amicably or seek professional counselling rather than resorting to violence.
