A 34-year-old Bulawayo woman has appeared in court for allegedly dating and having sex with a 16-year-old boy whom she infected with HIV.
Gracious Taruvinga of Emakhandeni suburb appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
She was remanded in custody to July 6.
Prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that accused person is the complainant’s ‘girlfriend’.
He said sometime in September 2024, the 16-year-old boy went to the accused person’s place of residence to help her with chores.
The court heard that accused person demanded to have sexual intercourse with the complainant and he agreed.
They had sexual intercourse several times with the complainant’s consent and the accused person infected the juvenile with HIV, the court heard.
The complainant was referred to hospital for medical examination, said Mr Dzimbanhete.
