A 34-year-old man from Fort Rixon, Insiza District, appeared in court on Friday charged with attempted murder after stabbing his cousin brother with a knife once on the stomach over an unknown reason.
Xolani Mabhena of Zimbili Extension appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate, Mr Shingai Mutiro, facing allegations of attempted murder.
He denied all the allegations and the matter was postponed to June 29, for judgment.
The State, represented by Mr Jethro Mada told the court that the allegations are that on April 11 at around 7PM, Wisdom Sibanda, the complainant was drinking beer at Zimbili Business Centre with his friends and was sent by his friends to go and buy dilution in the shop.
“When he was about to enter the shop, the accused person blocked his way in by closing the door. The accused person then started bullying the complainant for no reason,” said Mr Mada.
The court heard that the accused person realised that the complainant was going and ran after him and stabbed him once with an okapi knife on the stomach.
He started bleeding and the accused person went away.
The complainant was then assisted by members of the public to go to the hospital for medical examination and a police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person
