MUSICIAN Braveman Chizvino “Baba Harare” fought back tears on stage at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, last Sunday as he recalled his past.

The 35-year-old successfully launched his gospel album titled “Repentance” before a highly appreciative crowd.

South Africa-based gospel star Takesure Zamar Ncube, who is shaping Baba Harare’s new path, graced the event.

Minister Michael Mahendere, Tatenda Mahachi, Batsirai Shasha, Sabastian Magacha and Jonah Chivasa are some of the top acts that performed at the launch.

In an interview after his performance, Baba Harare said he does not regret quitting jiti.

“It was an emotional night for me to launch this gospel album before a big crowd on a Sunday,” he said.

“I was humbled by the support I got in my journey of winning souls back to Christ, the Saviour. I made the correct decision that I hope will inspire others to follow suit.”

Baba Harare said it took a lot of sacrifice for him to quit secular music.

“It took me years to build my career as a jiti musician and l even toured the world while singing secular music,” he said.

“I know I will miss some of those trips but God has changed my life. It is a journey that I will always cherish.”

Besides being a night of praise and worship, top celebrities and socialites added colour to the event.

Madam Boss, Faith Candy, comedian Fretz Donzvo and Mondoro youthful entrepreneur Terence Maphosa were among the guests.
