LOCAL motorsport enthusiasts will once again be in for a treat during the next two weekends.
After having been part of the exciting season-opening main circuit racing event of the year – the Ezytrack Grand Prix at Donnybrook Park Raceway – a couple of weeks ago, they have two more mouth-watering events coming up this weekend and the next.
First on their menu of entertainment will be the two-day Goromonzi Enduro which will be held in Goromonzi this coming weekend.
And as if this is not enough, they will make their way back to the home of local motorsport – the iconic Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare – for the Supercross Fun Day on March 21.
First things first!
This coming Saturday will see some of the country’s top motorcycling racers congregating in Goromonzi for the season-opening Goromonzi Enduro event.
The engines are ready to roar as the 2026 Enduro season officially gets underway this weekend.
On Saturday, the Ruzawi Polocrosse Club will play host to the opening round of a five-event series.
With 72 entries already confirmed, the event showcases the incredible depth of talent in the sport, featuring riders ranging from 4-year-old beginners to seasoned veterans in their 60s.
According to one of the event’s organisers, Jamie Kerwin, they have designed a tiered challenge to accommodate all skill levels:
Junior Loop (2km): Tailored for the PW50, 50cc, 65cc, and Junior Novice classes.
Intermediate Loop (10km): Set for the Junior and Senior Farmer classes.
Main Route (25km+ per lap): Demanding Red and Green routes designed for the Gold, Silver, Bronze, J1, and J2 categories.
“This season-opener is made possible through the dedicated support of our sponsors, the Ruzawi Polocrosse Club, and the local landowners.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the track teams who have worked tirelessly to mark and clear the routes to ensure a safe and competitive environment for all,” Kerwin told the Zimpapers Sports Hub yesterday.
“We invite all motorsport enthusiasts and members of the Press to join us for a day of high-octane action as we launch the 2026 season.”
Enduro is a popular, high-pressure discipline, often requiring a strategy of managing your bike, and energy, for a full day of riding.
In fact, one of the country’s top motorcycling events – the Goromonzi Enduro – is firmly back on the local motorsport radar.
The one-day event was a regular feature on the local motorsport calendar for quite some time before it made a disappearing act in the mid-2000s.
The distance to the venue of Saturday’s event is 35km from Harare’s CBD, and spectators have been asked to follow signposts from the Goromonzi-Mutare Road intersection.
Enduro is a primarily long-distance, off-road racing discipline for motorcycles or mountain bikes that emphasises endurance, technical skill, and stamina over pure speed.
