THE Mabvuku community have had enough of living adjacent to a monster which keeps killing people.
They have once again appealed for traffic lights to be installed at the turnoff from Mutare Road following a number of deadly accidents at the site.
Community Laison Committee chairperson, Willis Chirehwa, told H-Metro that his team have been invading schools and churches to educate them on road traffic safety.
“Accidents at the Mabvuku turn-off have become a thorn in residents’ flesh,” said Chirehwa.
“Our teams are visiting schools and churches so as to educate adults and children to observe road traffic rules.
“Our major appeal is for authorities to consider installing traffic lights or humps to avoid speeding since it is a highway.
“Some residents are nursing injuries while others have permanent injuries due to accidents at the black spot.
“Some pedestrians cross the highway to Epworth while others drop and board vehicles there,” he said.
For some of the Mabvuku residents, their hope is on their Councillor Scott Sakupwanya.
“We are looking forward to seeing the installation of traffic lights since our Councillor has already addressed the challenge of potholes,” said Amos Mahwe.
“Sakupwanya constructed a good road and we are sure that he will also address the issue of traffic lights as well as street lights. We are believing in him for tangible results,” said Amos.
