HIGH riding Traffic’s impressive run was brought to a screeching halt by Entumbane, who beat them 2-1 in a ZRP Bulawayo Province Football League match at Mpopoma High School on Friday.

Watched by a sizeable crowd, which included football legends Zenzo Moyo and Gift Lunga Jnr, Entumbane meant business from the start and shot into the lead midway into the first stanza through a penalty converted by goalkeeper Brighton Sibanda.

Traffic pulled one back through a cheeky header by Mpumelelo Siyagumba in the second-half, but the home side refused to surrender and restored its lead from a well taken set piece by Fidelis Mvalo 10 minutes later.

There was an incredible 11 minutes of added time, much to the frustration of Entumbane. At Percy Ibboston grounds, Queens Park came from three goals down to force a 3-all stalemate against Luveve, who seem to have lost their steam. All Luveve goals were scored by hattrick hero Vincent Ncube.

At Mtshede Primary, Njube thumped Sauerstown 3-0, with goals coming from David Magada, Douglas Mapisa and Zibusiso Ncube.

Hillside collected maximum points after dismissing Tshabalala 2-1. Thembie Sibanda and Bimbi Loveson scored for Hillside while Bukhosi Dube got Tshabalala’s goal.

CID leapfrogged Traffic to top of the log standings after beating Magwegwe 2-0 in their backyard. The detectives, who are yet to lose a game, scored through Wilson Elvis and Delight Chingoma.

CBD Boys, as Bulawayo Central are referred to, beat Westcomm 2-1.

Donnington beat struggling Pumula 2-0 while Mzilikazi beat basement side Nkulumane 2-1.

The cops’ league is becoming a four-team race between top placed CID with 32 points, Traffic and Hillside tied on 30 points and fourth-placed Entumbane with 28 points.
