This move would uphold cultural exchanges between Zimbabwe and other European countries.
“Zimbabwe has a diverse arts and culture that can be used to promote the country’s image and market it to other countries. Its existing relation with Italy has seen a lot of artistes from the two countries having cultural exchange programmes which included travelling to each other’s country to showcase their rich culture,” he said.
The ambassador highlighted that arts are universal as they go a long way in cutting across barriers hence the influx of artistes like Italian acappella group Mezzotono into the country.

The European Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ado Del’Arricia, said the country was going to benefit greatly from the inclusion of Italy into EUNIC as it brings about a to the table its rich and unique culture.
EUNIC is a network of the European national institutes for culture, which are engaged beyond their national borders. The organisation has its headquarters in Brussels and was established in 2006. It is the framework through which EU national cultural institutions co-operate in the development and execution of uniquely multilateral cultural projects and initiatives in Europe and across the world.
Working in the arts, languages, youth, education, science, inter-cultural dialogue and development sectors, the network seeks to facilitate cultural co-operation; to create lasting partnerships between professionals and to encourage greater understanding and awareness.
The EUNIC Zimbabwe cluster was formed to enhance the effectiveness of the existing partnerships and networks. This is designed to promote cultural diversity and understanding between societies and to strengthen international dialogue and co-operation.
Some of its activities and objectives include developing common cultural projects and areas of collaboration in cultural projects. This includes sharing of physical premises and data for cultural events.
The partnership seeks to build on past collaborations between the cultural institutes aimed at promoting the development of arts and culture in Zimbabwe.
