BULAWAYO-BASED a cappella group, Equity Music Ministries, will on Saturday hold its first live show at Nkulumane Hall in Bulawayo.
The Emakhandeni group last month released its debut 12-track album titled Come To The River which it will launch at the show.In an interview, group member Daniel Gwirambira said the group worked hard to be where it is now.
“Fans should come in their numbers to sample songs from our debut album,” he said.
Gwirambira said a cappella music should be promoted like any other genre.
“Our challenge is to convince music lovers that a cappella music is as good as any other type of music,” he said.
Gwarambira said they had invited other a cappella groups such as Power House, Shalom and Worship of Njube SDA Church to join them at the show.
He said after the Nkulumane show, plans were underway to stage shows in Gweru and Harare.
“Our aim is to revive a cappella music genre which we believe has a huge following,” he said.
Gwirambira said their album has songs in Ndebele and Shona.
Equity Music Ministries was formed in 2004 but some of its key members left for South Africa hence it was dormant for sometime.
“We regrouped recently and worked on this debut album,” he said.
The group is made up of Daniel Gwirambira, Ashwell Mlotshwa, Cabanhani Mzila, Pride Moyo, Ndumiso Ncube, Leeroy Sibanda and Ziggy Ndlovu.
