THE Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust, in partnership with the European Union (EU) Delegation to Zimbabwe, has awarded US$119 200 in grants to six Zimbabwean cultural operators under the CreativeACTIONs 2 initiative.
The grants range between US$9 400 and US$35 000.
In a statement, Culture Fund said the grants aim to strengthen the creative sectors by driving innovation and promoting policy dialogue for supportive arts and culture policies.
“Initiatives place emphasis on collaboration between
independent operators and key Government ministries –
including the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, and
the Ministry of Justice.
“The selected interventions focus on several strategic areas: Policy engagement and advocacy (enabling the cultural sector to be more sustainable, profitable, and aligned with the National Development Strategies (NDS 1 ending 2025 and NDS 2 spanning 2026–2030), particularly in areas like job creation, youth development, creative industries, and cultural preservation).
“Music sector strengthening (including improving literacy around national music strategies, enhancing legal frameworks and upgrading intellectual property systems. With these latest awards, CreativeACTIONs 2 has now invested a total of USD $1,351,250.00 in grants across 92 initiatives since February 2023. The programme has reached more
than 35 districts, benefitting women, youth, and persons with disabilities, and has contributed to the creation of over 314 jobs in Zimbabwe’s arts and culture sector,” reads part of the statement.
