A 64-YEAR-OLD Rusape grandmother will spend the next five years behind bars after committing unspeakable cruelty against her 11-year-old granddaughter – burning the child’s private parts with a flaming log in a twisted “punishment.”
The nightmare began when the Grade 4 pupil moved in with her grandmother in 2019 after her parents’ divorce. Instead of love, the elderly woman subjected the girl to repeated torture, including searing her genitals with fire while accusing her of being “promiscuous.”
In another sickening attack, the grandmother melted plastic and pressed it onto the child’s right palm, leaving permanent scars. The horror only ended when the brave girl reported the abuse, with medical exams confirming the gruesome injuries.
Magistrates handed down the maximum sentence as the National Prosecuting Authority warned: “No kinship justifies such barbarity.”
