FORMER Chronicle journalist and ZBCtv Breakfast News anchor, Ms Zvikomborero Sibanda, has died. She was 46.
According to her brother Mr Stephen Sibanda, she died in Bulawayo yesterday morning after a prolonged battle with fibroid-related complications.
She was born on April 5, 1978, in Bulawayo and began her career in journalism with The Chronicle before moving on to ZBCtv.
Ms Sibanda, had no children but is survived by her husband.
Mr Sibanda said his sister was the fifth of seven siblings and praised her for being a unifying force in their family and recalled her liveliness as a child, stating that she played many important roles in their lives.
“Growing up, she was always a lively child who ensured the family remained united,” he said.
Ms Sibanda attended Nkulumane Primary School in Bulawayo and studied at Usher Girls High and Hermann Gmeiner High Schools for her secondary education. Thereafter, she pursued Mass Communication at Harare Polytechnic.
After leaving ZBC, Ms Sibanda worked at the National Oil Company of Zimbabwe before moving to South Africa where she got married.
Her brother said she returned to Zimbabwe in November last year, continuing to battle health issues caused by fibroids that she had undergone surgery previously.
Mourners are gathered at Block 75/2300 Mpopoma, Bulawayo, and details about her burial arrangements are yet to be announced.
