AN ex-police officer assaulted a former workmate accusing him of causing his dismissal from the force.
Wedzerai Jambi, 32, who resides at Zimbabwe Republic Police Gwanda New Camp and is an ex-member of the Criminal Investigations Department, denied assaulting his former colleague Maxwell Machokoto, 30, when he appeared before magistrate Sheila Nazombe.
He was found guilty but was just cautioned and discharged.

“You should learn to respect other people’s rights,” Nazombe warned Jambi.
Prosecutor Mncedisi Dube said Jambi assaulted Machokoto last month.

“On April 7, 2014 at around 5.10PM, the complainant and the accused person met at Phumulani Hotel where they were both patrons.

“The accused approached the complainant and accused him of  causing his dismissal from the force. He then grabbed the complainant by the neck and pushed him out of the bar,” he said.

Dube said while the two were outside Jambi tried to strike the complainant with a stone but missed.
