Chapter Cde Kaison Mavhangira said the association had lost a strong member.
“We have lost a strong member and knowledge tank. Cde Makeleni contributed in the liberation struggle and he was even jailed for the national cause. May his soul rest in peace,” said Cde Mavhangira.
Cde Makeleni participated in the liberation struggle and he worked with the late Cde Elliot Manyika in the Musengezi area.
In 1960 he was arrested for political activities and was detained at Khami Prison in Bulawayo.
Six years later, Cde Makeleni was back in jail again for the same offence and was released in 1969 after serving three years.
He went to South Africa in 1977.
He was a committed member of the revolutionary party Zanu-PF until the time of his death.
