Ex-Mwana Africa team manager, Sharara, dies

H-Metro Reporter

KUDA SHARARA, a former detective who turned into a football administrator, has died.

Friends told H-Metro that Sharara suffered a minor stroke last week and was taken to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

“From what we heard, the scan showed that it was a minor stroke and the expectation was that he would be fine very soon,” a friend said.

“There wasn’t any alarm over it and the reference to the hospital looked like a routine one.

“Sadly, things went the other way and we have lost a great colleague who was passionate about football in Bindura and the country at large.

“He lived football, it was his game, and sadly he died at a fairly young age when he still had so much to give to the game.”

Sharara rose to become the team manager at former Premiership side, Mwana Africa.

“The Mwana Africa project was a big deal in local football and all the guys who were behind it should be hailed as heroes because they changed the face of the game in Mashonaland West,” said another friend.

“The team convinced the province that it could have a side which could stand up to the giants of the game in this country.

“Mwana inspired many clubs, which have dared to challenge the establishment in this country, including dominant champions FC Platinum.”
