Tiger backs son Charlie

FLORIDA. Tiger Woods has high hopes for his golfing prodigy son Charlie.

Being the child of arguably the greatest golfer of all time has its pressures, but 13-year-old Charlie has certainly lived up to these on the golf course so far.

The youngster’s popularity sky-rocketed last year after starring alongside his dad at the father-son PNC Championship in Florida.

Sporting matching Nike outfits, the world of golf were fixated on the Woods duo as they competed in the two-day event.

And they did not disappoint, finishing second behind John Daly and his son, after shooting an incredible round of 59 on day two in the two-man scramble event.

Tiger and Charlie are set to make their return to the tournament later this month.

Ahead of their comeback, the pair sat down with the Golf Channel to give an insight into working together as a father-son double act. For Charlie there are of course not many better people to learn from than his 82-time PGA Tour winning dad.

“I am supporting him wherever he wants to go.

“Then obviously providing opportunities for that direction. As a parent, our job and responsibility is to provide opportunity and support and it is fun that he has taken a passion to something I have enjoyed.”

“At the end of the day the amount of time we have been able to spend together, and the bonding that happens. Being able to play golf, being able to rip on one another, it is just non-stop right?

“If you are able to jab it, you are able to take it as well and he has done a good job of that.” BBC Sport.
