A duet of former Pah Chihera vocalist, Nyasha Mhlanga and upcoming producer, Malon Murape who joined forces to form a new ensemble called “Afro Breeze” is set to add a fresh feel to music scene.

Judging from their forthcoming seven-track album titled “Mhepo,” set to be released sometime in November, the two have found harmony with their voices.

Murape the band leader, who is no stranger to music, described their entry into the showbiz industry as a challenge.

“Firstly, I would like to thank the Almighty for making this a reality for us to come up with a band.

“You can imagine a situation whereby a vocalist and a film writer-cum-producer coming up with music that is so soothing,” he said.

Murape, who has produced two movies up to date, said their first projects are two sound tracks to his movies “Tariro” and “Single Mothers”.

“We are looking forward to launch our audio album accompanied by a music video sometime in November. As we speak, we are left with a single track to record while on videos two are still pending,” he said.

Mhlanga on the other hand said it was a dream come true to be part of the band.

“I am very proud to be a leading vocalist now as I was doing backing vocals for Pah Chihera for five months.

“I also appeared on her videos like ‘MurumeWangu’, ‘Wakandidadira’ and ‘Musadadire Varume’ on her debut album called ‘Runonzi Rudo’,” she said.

She also worked with the likes of Sister Flame, Mike Bere and David Hondoyenzombe.

Their album which is a social commentary has tracks like “Mhepo”, the title to the album followed by “Chihwa”, “Undimbundire” among others.

The group has not yet embarked on holding shows since it is still new to the game and seeks to get recognition after the launch of their projects.

In common with other struggling upcoming acts, Afro Breeze is stretched financially and is struggling to complete their work started last year in August when the group was formed.
