SUNGURA artiste and session guitarist, Mathew Perego, is working on his second album.
The former Utakataka Express instrumentalist announced his arrival last year with the album titled Dhiri Rakanaka.
He told H-Metro he was determined to continue working hard to join the elite league of stars.
“Our first album, titled Dhiri Rakanaka, was well received by the fans of the late Tongai Moyo and sungura lovers at large.
“Many people said that our music has the same appeal as that of the late Tongai Moyo.
“This time around I am pulling up my socks and working to bring a new project to the table with the motive to nail down my name to stardom,” he said.
He added: “Our album is still selling and still being enjoyed during our live shows, but this cannot stop us from releasing a new project,
“Since we want to prove to our fans that we can do wonders in the music industry, we will continue doing our best.”
His second album, due for release next month, is titled Chi Bachelor. It carries five tracks — Rudo Runovakwa Newe, Tongo, Chi Bachelor, Usamanikidze Kundida and Nhamo Ndaneta Kugara Newe”.
Perego is very optimistic that his new project can do very well, considering the fact that his very first album did it very well.
“Considering the fact that our debut album sold very well, I’m very optimistic that my new album can follow suit and sell very well.
“Utakataka Express shall remain my home, despite the fact that I left the band after some altercations with Peter Moyo.
“I have the undying love to work with them and get some advice there so that we can keep the sungura genre afloat and above all genres,” said Perego.
