Ex-ZIFA bosses seek leave to approach ConCourt

Online Reporter

FORMER ZIFA boss Felton Kamambo and four other accomplices are now seeking leave to have their matter referred to the Constitutional Court.

Kamambo together with Philemon Machana, Brighton Malandule, Stanley Chapeta and Joseph Mamutse are facing fraud allegations after misrepresenting to be the legitimate ZIFA board members yet they were on suspension.

Through their lawyer, Admire Rubaya, the five have questioned the State’s motive to continue prosecuting them in the absence of a complainant which they believe violates their rights.

This comes after the Sports and Recreation Commission who were complainants in the matter withdrew from the case which the ex-executives now argue killed the basis for the trial.

The State has however insisted on prosecuting them stating that the SRC’s withdrawal as complainants does not signal the end of the matter.
