FORMER ZIFA president, Felton Kamambo, and members of his suspended executive, were yesterday remanded to next month pending finalisation of investigations.
Kamambo, Philemon Machana, Stanley Chapeta, Joseph Mamutse and Bryton Malandule appeared before Harare magistrate, Taurai Manuwere.
They were remanded to October 3 on the basis that the State is waiting for the investigating officer to finalise the last lap of investigations.
Allegations are that on November 16 last year, the Sports and Recreation Commission suspended the entire ZIFA executive committee for gross incompetence and misappropriation of the association’s funds.
But, between January and February this year, the accused persons, acting in connivance and knowing that they were on suspension, wrote various letters on ZIFA letterheads, signed by Mamutse, to a number of ZIFA Congress members.
The letters were suspending the Congress members from their positions.
As a result of suspensions, the ZIFA Congress members were not able to execute their tasks, on behalf of the national association.
