Benjamin Takavada aka Benjie Tee launched his third album at Super Label Club in Harare over the weekend. The Chitungwiza chanter owes his success to veteran Urban Grooves outfit Extra Large who helped him to start his career three years ago. “I am where I am today because Extra Large recognised my talent and groomed me to become a recording musician,” said Benjie Tee.

The chanter sang tracks from his new offering including “Pandaikufonera”, “Tovachinjira Skiri”, “Rasta Vanokakama” and “Amai Bhoyi” among others.

The launch was hosted by DJ’s Kay Cee Jones and Cheeky B of After Shock Entertainment, and artistes who made appearances include Lady B, Juntal, D Flex, Jiggaz and Lady P. Extra Large duo of Jimmy Mangezi aka Snagga Jim and Norman Manwere aka Likkle N were at the launch heaped praise on the upcoming artiste.“When we met him we did not want to be selfish because we knew how difficult it is to get into the music industry and make a mark.

“That is why we worked with artists like Benjie Tee because we saw his potential and assisted him in producing his music as well as helping out in any other way we could,” said Snagga Jim. The duo went on to rock the sizeable crowd with several of their popular tracks including “Tanetsa PaHarare”, “Muti Wemusango”, “Ndoda Kushamura Newe” and “Ndosiya bhachi rangu”.

Entertainment manager at Super Label DJ Cheeky B revealed that the establishment was deliberately promoting upcoming artists by inviting them to perform alongside established musicians. “We are going to hold a show at the end of the month which will feature big names such as Bounty Lisa, Jah Love, Ricky Fire and Freeman sharing the stage with upcoming artists like Princo Spice, T Makwikwi and Ras Pompy,” he said.
