THE countdown is over and tomorrow is big day when history will certainly be recorded in showbiz.
After all the hype, and euphoria created in recent weeks, new records will be set in showbiz when ace music promoter, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, holds four gigs in one day.
Not only is Chipaz expected to hold four gigs on one day, but they will also be staged in one city. This alone makes it a huge gamble for the promoter.
However, the award-winning music promoter said he was confident of giving fans value for their money.
And, what has raised the appeal of the shows is that they coincide with the last day of the Zimbabwe Harare Agricultural Show.
To him, this is another way of giving back to revellers on the usually fun-filled day.
SUNGURA FEST
Sungura lovers are in for a rare treat when the stable holds a pungwe at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape tomorrow.
Dubbed “Sungura Fest”, the musical extravaganza features some of the country’s household names in the genre.
Superstar Alick Macheso will headline a sungura fete, after his return, from an international tour.
He will share the stage with other yesteryear stars Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele and Leonard Zhakata under one roof.
Tonga musician, Bio “DT” Mudimba, of the Kijata Jata fame, has been included in the star-studded line-up. Man-of-the-moment, Mark Ngwazi, along with Peter Moyo and Senator Tichareva, are also part of the bill.
Radio personality Skywalker will also grace the event as an MC.
It starts round 6pm till very late.
HARARE CUP CLASH
The annual Harare Cup Clash, which is famed for churning our new chanters, returns to City Sports Centre on the same night, by popular demand.
Zim dancehall stalwarts and top dancehall sounds will also perform at the event.
As expected, new chanters will also be born at the event. Dhadza D, Seh Calaz, Hwindi Prezident, Jah Masters and Kinnah are some of the artists on the bill.
BATTLE OF THE LIMPOPO
Local Zim Hip Hop and Amapiano lovers will have something to smile about when Chipaz holds another bash at LongCheng Plaza Car Park.
Dubbed “Face of Hip Hop and Amapiano Fest”, top South African wheel-spinners Gold Max, Mobi Dixon, Cndo and Mbali Umshove are also part of the bill.
Local rappers – Holy Ten, Stunner and T-Gonz – have also been included in the line-up.
GOSPEL LOVERS’ DELIGHT
Gospel lovers will have something to smile about as the same stable will hold a family show at Harare Gardens om the same day.
Dubbed Dare Guru, the show will feature Baba Manyeruke, Mathias Mhere, Fungisai Zvakavapano, Mai Patai and Zolasko from Botswana.
PREPAREDNESS
“We have done all the ground work and all this is due proper planning,” said Chipaz.
“After taking a break over the years to give others the platform, we decided to make a comeback because there was a huge gap.
“We are back to give fans the fun they want,” he said.
Added Chipaz: “As a promoter, I always want to give artists the right platform to express themselves.
“Of course, I have been criticised for hold more shows in one day but it’s all about planning.
“We will continue doing the same as long as resources permit because, as a registered promoter, I have a role to play.”
Chipaz has vowed to give artists from various genres the platform to showcase their talent and meet their fans.
