Fab G Umshanakagogo unveils ‘Onondaba’: A deep dive into his musical journey and spiritual awakening”

UMTHOBANHLIZIYO genre artiste Fab G Umshanakagogo has released a track titled “Onondaba,” which details his experiences over the years in the music industry.

Released last week, the track’s beat was produced by Sparks, and the vocals were mixed and mastered by Cliff Jeans at Street Menace Studios.

The video was shot by Brooklyn Films International with the assistance of Kruz Media and features a cast including Moses Wesizwe, Gogo maNyoni, Tanaka Munyanvhi, Roe, Muth’omnyama, Hlengiwe, Limpho, and Lammk K.

Fab G Umshanakagogo said the single is meant to unpack his journey and address issues where artistes are sometimes wrongly judged.

“The track, among other things, seeks to clarify some behind-the-scenes encounters which artistes face that make people judge an artiste wrongly whilst there is too much they don’t really know, yet they just want an artiste to live up to their expectations.

“On the other hand, the video has mysterious and strange scenes that reflect the spiritual life of a black person, the tightening of amasiko (cultures), and the awakening of Izithunywa. I believe black people are not only aligned to The Creator but also amadlozu (ancestors). The video also explains my true life experience that almost led me to death earlier this year, which very few people know about. It’s another reason why I was too quiet and not releasing music,” said Fab G.

He said the year has been challenging as at one point he almost hung up the mic but is back with a bang with more projects lined up.

“I faced a life-devastating situation when I came back from South Africa and just got better recently, then decided to bounce back and do it for the love of the game and for MshanaKagogo fans.

“Despite the sabotage I’ve been facing, more is yet to come this October when I’m dropping a five-track EP titled ‘Basazovuma ngamakhanda,’” said Fab G.
