Fake receipts alleged in Highlanders FC player deal

Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club president, Mr Lovemore Sibanda, has revealed that the receipts issued for the sale of two of their players to Highlanders FC were fake.
Mr Sibanda took the stand and testified in the high-profile trial of former Highlanders Chief Executive Officer Brian Busani Moyo, who is accused of defrauding Highlanders FC of US$2,000.

He told the court that he was approached by Highlanders FC board chairperson, Mr Luke Mkandla, who inquired about the amount Bulawayo Chiefs received for the purchase of two players—Never Rauzhi and Malvern Hativagoni.
“I told him we received US$18,000, which was paid in batches. It was not a bank transfer, but the money was handed to our former administrator, Andrew Mandigora,” he said.
The Bulawayo Chiefs president further stated that the former Highlanders FC CEO and Mandigora had doctored the receipts.

“These receipts are fake and they were doctored by Brian Moyo and former Administrator Andrew Mandigora,” he said.
Highlanders board chairperson Mr Mkandla attended the court session and was expected to testify but did not do so before the close of the State case.
The court is expected to make a ruling on the matter on 28 August 2025.
