adminRobin van Persie and Radamel Falcao rediscovered their scoring touch for Manchester United in a 3-1 win over Leicester, and Daniel Sturridge made a goal-scoring return for Liverpool in a 2-0 victory against West Ham yesterday.
Van Persie put United ahead in the 27th minute with his first goal since December 26 and Falcao netted only the fourth goal of his loan spell from Monaco five minutes later.
The victory was wrapped up before halftime through Wes Morgan’s own goal. Marcin Wasilewski scored in the second half for Leicester, but the visitors were unable to get close to repeating the 5-3 victory in the reverse fixture in September.
United moved up to third in the standings ahead of Southampton, which plays Swansea today.
Liverpool dislodged West Ham from seventh place by beating the London club. Sturridge scored within 12 minutes of coming off the bench after five months out with thigh and calf injuries, building on Raheem Sterling’s goal, which was also set up by Philippe Coutinho.
Tottenham provisionally went fifth ahead of north London rival Arsenal with a 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
