THE new Premier Netball League got off to a false start at the weekend with only the teams in the Masvingo bubble getting underway while the Harare bubble was postponed to this weekend.

The teams that are playing in Masvingo at the Great Zimbabwe Mashava campus kicked off with eight teams participating.

Gold Reef, Beitbridge Boarder, Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Lupane University, Platinum Queens, Mutare City, Masvingo City Stars, Masvingo Pirates, Victoria Rhiders and Green Fuels are based in Masvingo
Only Lupane and Mutare City were not in action and will join the league later.

The Harare teams thus Agape Queens, University of Zimbabwe, Blue Angels, Harare District, Ngezi, BTTC, Black Rhinos, Waterfalls, Correctional Stars and Harare City will have to wait a little bit longer before they make their top-flight debut.

The league’s spokesperson, Yeukai Mucheni, said they adhered to the strict Covid-19 protocols they have been recommended to follow.

“It was an interesting bubble with a much improved level of fitness and competition noted from the launch tournament. The Harare bubble, we postponed it to this weekend,” said Mucheni.
