Families to be relocated

The relocation brings to 372 those that have been relocated to pave way for Tokwe-Mukosi Dam this year.
The initial batch of 72 families was relocated to the Chisase area.
The Development Trust of Zimbabwe offered Government 68 000 hectares of land at its Nuanetsi Ranch to resettle families who will be affected by the construction of the dam.
Masvingo provincial administrator Mr Felix Chikovo said yesterday that they would have relocated 508 families to Nuanetsi by the end of next month.
“We want those families whose fields were destroyed during the building of saddle dams to be given first priority, so the identification teams will sit down with the families and determine those who should be moved first when the process begins next week,” he said.
Mr Chikovo said Government wanted to relocate the families before the start of the rainy season.
“We are on schedule as far as meeting our deadline to have resettled 508 families who should be moved to allow the building of saddle dams to go on uninterrupted,” he said. “We have so far completed pegging plots for the first 300 families which should be completed next week and then we hope to have relocated the remaining families in the first week of November.”
