anniversary under the theme “Celebrating 48 Years of Independence with Vision, Hard Work and Unity”.
“Zambia looks forward to more co-operation with Zimbabwe in line with the Sadc development agenda in order to ensure the lives of people of the two countries are free from poverty,” she said.
Mrs Mutiti said the two Sadc countries share a variety of projects and natural resources along the border and these include the Zambezi River, the Victoria Falls and the Kariba North Bank Hydro Power Station, that have provided immense benefits to people.
Mrs Mutiti said preparations to co-host the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly next year were at an advanced stage.
“This initiative clearly shows the strong bonds that exist between Zambia and Zimbabwe, commonly referred to as Siamese twins. Both countries are working earnestly to ensure that all necessary arrangements for this global event are made,” she said. 
Mrs Mutiti said despite borders drawn by colonial regimes, the two countries had a common history and maintain excellent relations dating back to the pre-colonial era.
She said there were inter-marriages between Zambians and Zimbabweans.
