A family from Ndimimbili village in Lupane district, Matabeleland North Province is facing serious divisions surrounding the activities of one of its members, Admire Ncube, known in the community for his dedication as a prayer warrior.
While Ncube has spent years praying for and assisting several community members, his efforts have stirred discontent among some family members, including his own mother.
According to villagers, Ncube has over the years supported several fellow villagers through the prayer sessions but this has not gone down well with his relatives.
“Admire has been a beacon of hope for many in our community. His prayers have brought healing and comfort to those in need. It’s disheartening to see his own family turning against him for simply helping others,” said a villager who identified himself as Jabulani Moyo.
Reports indicate that family members have ganged up on Ncube, resorting to violence in an attempt to force him to cease his prayer sessions.
Tensions escalated to the extent that the family allegedly leveraged their connections as members of the ruling Zanu-PF party to have Ncube arrested.
They accused him of spreading Covid-19 in the area due to his gatherings for prayer, which they claimed posed health risks.
Despite these challenges, Ncube remained steadfast in his commitment to his community, continuing to offer support through prayer.
However, he has since gone into hiding together with his wife, Happiness Ngwenya and their three children, fearing for their lives.
The situation has drawn attention to the broader issues of family loyalty, community support, and the intersection of politics and personal beliefs in the village.
As the divisions within the family deepen, community members stand by Ncube, rallying around the belief that his contributions are vital for the spiritual and emotional well-being of Ndimimbili village.
