A family at Camen Ranch in Silobela was forced to exhume an unknown object they had allegedly buried in a grave during the night.
Mr Ndumiso Mlambo and his family raised the ire of the community leadership and left villagers tongue tied after they reportedly buried an unknown thing in a grave.
Speaking to B-Metro Chief Malisa said after he received a report that Mlambo and family were seen burying an unknown thing in a bush area he got worried.
a?I got worried and shocked after I received a report informing me that Ndumiso Mlambo and his family were seen at around 10PM a fortnight ago burying an unknown thing in the bush. The leadership and the community members were not informed or invited for the burial,a? he said.
Mlambo was brought before the chiefas court a fortnight ago to explain what he buried in a grave and why he did not inform other villagers.
He said according to their tradition after a traditional ceremony they had to bury bones, red and black cloth and a skin of a goat so as to appease their ancestors.
Accordingly Chief Malisa ordered Mlambo family to exhume the remains of the interred a?thinga?so as to prove to the community what they interred in the grave. Mlambo obliged and an exhumation ceremony was conducted last week on Saturday.
Malisa said a skin of a goat, bones, red and black cloth material were found in a grave.
He said in a bid to curb such incidents in future he had urged community members to inform the local leadership before they conduct any activity that might raise suspicion in the community.
