LONDON. – John Fury has claimed son Tyson has “DESTROYED” their relationship by ignoring his pleas not to return to the ring.
The Gypsy King will end his fifth retirement from boxing next month in a Tottenham tussle with Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Several of the former two-time unified heavyweight champion’s family members expressed their reservations about him lacing up the gloves again, including his wife Paris.
Dad John, who missed a large portion of Tyson’s career due to his incarceration for gouging a man’s eye out, also raised his concerns about the Wythenshawe warrior stepping between the ropes again.
And Tyson’s ignoring of his loved one’s pleas to stay retired has, according to John, done potentially irreparable damage to their once-strong bond.
He told The Daily Mail: “My relationship with Tyson is destroyed.
“Boxing destroyed it completely. I’ll say it on camera: I’ve never taken £10 off him in my life and I never will.
“I don’t want Tyson’s money and I don’t need Tyson’s money. Whatever he’s got, good luck to him.
“But, don’t forget who built his story when he was a kid. He didn’t build it himself, did he? Me, his father.”
John, knowingly or unknowingly, made himself the centre of attention at last month’s pre-fight press conference, where he went on the rampage looking for Carl Froch. – The Sun
