A family in Matopo District is in distress after losing contact with four of its members following a suspected violent attack at their homestead.

The missing individuals have been identified as Selusiwe Moyo, her husband Vusile Sibanda, and their three children. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unclear, raising fears for their safety.

A relative who spoke to this publication said the family last heard from Selusiwe shortly after the alleged attack, when she reportedly reached out to her sister-in-law.

“We have lost contact with Selusiwe Moyo and her husband Vusile Sibanda together with their three children. We don’t know where they are and we are very worried about them,” said the family member.

The relative said Selusiwe had indicated that she had been attacked by two unknown men at their homestead.

“She told Vusile’s sister that she had been attacked and raped by two unknown men who were asking for the whereabouts of her husband. When she failed to tell them, they assaulted her and took turns to rape her. They also pepper sprayed their eldest son,” said the relative.

Following the incident, the couple reportedly disappeared with their children.

The family said they are uncertain whether the missing couple fled to Bulawayo or crossed into South Africa, but expressed deep concern over their well-being.

“We don’t know if they went to Bulawayo or South Africa, but we are worried about their safety. We just want to know if they are safe,” said the family member.

The matter has heightened anxiety within the community, with relatives appealing for information that could help locate the missing family.
