The group which was mainly composed of band members from the London and Cape Town churches started their tour in Livingstone with Francistown and Bulawayo also part of their itinerary.
Gospel music enthusiasts who packed the over
4 000 seater auditorium and others in the overflow could not take their seats when the group were on stage.
The concert, which was scheduled to start at 7pm saw queues building up as early as 5pm while the doors were officially opened at 6pm.
As soon as the group took to the stage the crowd could not help but jostle to the front to sing and dance along as the first song “Salvation is Here” was sung.
With most of the songs, familiar to the locals, it was easy for the crowd to give Hillsong the morale-booster they needed.
The group mainly composed of the youth led by Peter Wilson was energetic, leaping up and down between the main auditorium and Amphitheatre.
Some of the hits on the line-up included “One Way”, “Shout Unto God”, “Mighty to Save”, “How Great is Our God”, “Tell the World” and “Break Free” among others.
In between praise and worship, Pastor for Hillsong in Cape Town Phil Dooley took time to preach salvation before making an alter call.
Pastor Dooley preached a message of hope for Africa.
“I believe the best days for Africa are ahead and we can change Africa and the world by putting our faith in God. We are very passionate about Africa and the background doesn’t matter. Colour or language doesn’t matter when it comes to God,” Pastor Dooley said.
