Fans mourn Joyous Celebration vocalist

ZimPraise Choir has joined Zimbabwean fans in mourning Lihle Mbanjwa, a member of the famed choral group Joyous Celebration, who died at the weekend. According to reports Lihle died in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday while drummer Sabu Satsha suffered head injuries and was admitted in hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Joyous Celebration Family as well as Lihle’s family.

“We cannot begin to imagine how hard these past hours have been for both of you.

“We grieve with you for the loss of a sister in Christ and a bright spirit who had so much to give the world.

“Our thoughts and hearts will continue to be with you in the weeks and months ahead.

“Our prayers also go out to Sabu, we are believing God for a full speedy recovery,” ZimPraise posted on Facebook.The Joyous Celebration choir also confirmed the death via Facebook and posted on its wall: “It is with sadness that we announce the passing of one of our own, dear sister and friend, Lihle Mbanjwa. She passed away in an car accident in the early hours of the 30th November 2014.

“We appreciate your continued support over the years.

“We are counting on your prayers and support during this difficult time for us and their families.”

Mildred Mubaiwa, who is a big fan of the group, described Lihle’s death as a big blow to gospel music.

Rumbi Mawerera said may her Lihle’s soul rest in peace.

Patrick Muringi said Lihle used to be part of the group that performed in Harare whenever the group visited Zimbabwe.

Joyous Celebration Choir also has Mkhululi Bhebhe, a talented Zimbabwean singer, as one of its lead vocalists.
