THREE armed robbers on Tuesday pounced at the Farmers Hub along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare and went away with US$15 000 at around 5pm.

They gained entry into the premises immediately before the closing time when the staff was busy with office work before knocking off duty.

They ordered nine workers to lie down and tied them using electric cables.

They force-marched the director, ransacked all offices and opened two safes where they found the money.

The robbers stole a CCTV recorder drive which was mounted in the ceiling and fled leaving the victims tied,  lying on the floor.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery. They broke the safe from the board room using a grinder and the other safe in the accountant’s office and stole cash,” said Insp Chakanza.
