FASTJET Zimbabwe has extended the period for the operation of its Airbus A320 aircraft on its regional routes, introduced in response to peak season demand, to December 2026 following sustained strong demand.
The aircraft was introduced in August this year on the key routes of Harare – Johannesburg and Victoria Falls – Johannesburg. The Airbus A320 aircraft was initially planned to service the route during the August-September peak period.
The extension will ensure the increased capacity is maintained during the October to December festive season, as the airline moves to meet increased demand from both business and leisure travellers.
The announcement comes ahead of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbabwe Tourism Expo, which will be held in Masvingo from September 9 to 12, in which Fastjet Zimbabwe is scheduled to participate.
Fastjet Zimbabwe said the strong performance of the A320 operation had prompted the airline to extend its deployment beyond the initial peak-season schedule.
In addition to continuing operations through October, the aircraft will return during the December festive period to provide extra capacity as travel demand traditionally rises.
Fastjet Zimbabwe business chief executive officer and country head, Mr Donahue Cortes, said the continued growth in demand demonstrated the positive response from customers to the A320 service.
“The Airbus A320 service continues to resonate deeply with our customers and we are proud to see sustained growth in demand from both business and leisure travellers alike,” Mr Cortes said.
He said the airline’s new Business Premium product had also received a positive response, particularly from customers seeking additional comfort and convenience.
The product offers benefits including increased luggage allowances, dedicated ground services and an enhanced inflight experience.
Cortes said the extended A320 deployment would help the airline maintain adequate capacity during October and the December festive period while maintaining its service standards.
“This extension allows us to ensure sufficient capacity during the month of October and the peak December festive period. It reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the standard of service our customers have come to expect from fastjet Zimbabwe,” he said.
