Fatal fall: 19-year-old dies after slipping from avocado tree

TRAGEDY struck a Kwekwe family on Monday morning, when their son (19) fell headlong from an Avocado tree, leading to his death.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the fatal incident which occurred in Mbizo 6 in Kwekwe.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a case of sudden death where a 19-year-old man died on the spot when he allegedly fell headlong from an avocado tree. The incident occurred on 9 June 2025 in Mbizo 6 Kwekwe at about 11am,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said the now deceased Tinotenda Maombera is said to have climbed an Avocado tree intending to pluck the fruits.

“In the process, he slipped and fell down. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kwekwe hospital,” he said.
Insp Mahoko encouraged members of the community to always exercise caution in all situations so as to avoid injury and unnecessary loss of lives.
