In one of the highest levels of incest, a Zvishavane woman got the shock of her life when she discovered that her grandson was actually her husbanda��s child.
The man allegedly took advantage of his wifea��s absence to rape his daughter, aged 15.
The heinous act came to light when the woman interrogated the girl after she gave birth in June and she finally opened up.
She broke the sad news that her father had impregnated her and the shocked woman swiftly reported the matter to the police.
The man was arrested on rape charges and was hauled before Zvishavane magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.
The court heard that on 5 September 2015, the accused and his family were at their homestead in Majoni village when he asked his daughter to accompany him to the bush to look for wooden poles.
After gathering the wooden poles, they headed back home and on their way, the man ordered his daughter to put down the logs so they could look for more.
They walked 30 metres from the foot path and when they got to a secluded place, the man forcibly had sexual intercourse with the girl.
After the act, they proceeded home and the girl never told anyone.
On 2 October 2015, the complainant was left in the company of her father as the mother attended all night prayers.
During the dead of the night, the man woke up from the bedroom hut and proceeded to the kitchen hut where the girl was sleeping.
He sneaked into the girla��s blankets and raped her numerous times.
As a result of the rape, the girl fell pregnant but she never revealed the truth until the time when she gave birth.
She then let the cat out of the bag and revealed that her father was responsible.
The magistrate remanded him in custody to 12 September and he was advised to apply to the High Court for bail.
