FINANCIAL services company, FBC Bank Limited, has donated an assortment of groceries worth thousands of dollars to Entembeni Old People’s Home in Bulawayo as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
The donated goodies included mealie-meal, cooking oil, powdered milk, tooth paste, tissue paper, salt, sugar, cleaning materials, among others.
These were handed over to Entembeni in Luveve suburb by FBC group head of marketing, Mr Roy Nyakunuwa who, together with his team, also provided lunch to the elderly.
“Over the years, the FBC Group has been investing in sustainable social and philanthropic initiatives as part of efforts aimed at ensuring that the group’s operations benefit all stakeholders including the community in which it operates in,” he said in a brief speech.
“We appreciate the challenges faced by society and understand the difficulties faced by communities in alleviating these challenges.
“In this regard, we commend the leadership of Entembeni Old People’s Home for the unwavering dedication towards playing a pivotal role in alleviating the socio-economic challenges faced by the elderly.”
Mr Nyakunuwa said FBC was committed to working closely with communities it operates on hence the support to Entembeni Old People’s Home was a worthwhile cause.
He said FBC was also running other initiatives including paying school fees for the less privileged pupils and building public facilities for the betterment of the communities.
“FBC Bank sponsors the tertiary education of 20 underprivileged learners to pursue tertiary education in Zimbabwe and at a regional university.
“In the same vein, the FBCH Group completed the construction of a modern classroom block at Charleswood Primary School in Chimanimani,” said Mr Nyakunuwa.
The schools’ buildings were destroyed by Cyclone Idai and the banking group chipped in by providing key building material for the construction of the modern classroom block. -@SikhulekelaniM1
