FC Platinum chance to go on top of the log

Mehluli Sibanda, Senior Sports Reporter

DEFENDING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum have an opportunity to go on top of the log when they face Herentals at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

FC Platinum are fourth on the log with 36 points and if they overcome Herentals, they will rise to the summit of the standings, ahead of ZPC Kariba on goals difference.

Norman Mapeza’s men blew an opportunity to stay on top of the log when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Chicken Inn last Saturday. The two times in a row league champions have Caps United, Chicken Inn and ZPC Kariba ahead of them. With the other title aspirants not in action, this provides Pure Platinum Play with a chance to claim top spot.

FC Platinum have so far won 10 of the 21 matches they have played, drawn six and have been on the losing end five times. Of the title chasing pack, they have second best goal difference with 10 behind Chicken Inn’s 18.

Triangle, who saw their impressive run come to an end when they were beaten 4-3 by Manica Diamonds are also in action this afternoon with Taurai Mangwiro’s men facing Black Rhinos at Gibbo. — @Mdawini_29
