Fifa women’s football seminar begins today

The delegation of Botswana-based Florie Ramogodi, Christopher Bongozonga, Jack Shipanga, Henry Tandawo arrived for the four-day seminar organised by Zifa and would be funded by Fifa.
The seminar seeks to bring more awareness of the sport to the stakeholders and the community.

It is also meant to raise awareness to key partners as well as help in developing competitive teams.
The Fifa officers will make presentations on how to market women’s football in Zimbabwe and focus on development and competitions.

The indaba is highly interactive and about 150 stakeholders expected to attend will engage in discussions.
Sports Commission board member Eugenia Chidhakwa and SRC Sports Development Manager, Angela Nyaundi, will also make presentations on Government’s take on the girl child sport.
The electronic and print media will also be presenting on their role in women’s football.

Another Fifa instructor will take the participants through a media communication presentation which will cover the need for the media to promote women’s football through their channels, communication strategy and suggestions for promoting women’s football in the media.

Zifa will also make numerous presentations with women’s football board member Ben Mamoche presenting a paper on the association’s development plan while fellow board member Rose Kanonge will dwell on the education of coaches, referees and administration.

Further presentations during the four-day seminar will come from non-governmental organisations, prospective sponsors and the Mighty Warriors marketing and rebranding committee.
